Brandon Runyon

Hello,

My name is Brandon Runyon and I am the Advanced Placement Literature, British Literature, and Shakespearean Literature teacher here at Berean Christian. Prior to coming to Berean Christian, I attended Azusa Pacific University where I pursued a degree in English with an emphasis in teaching. I spent a fair amount of time teaching in public high schools in the Azusa area before coming back to the Bay Area. I was blessed to teach for two years at Miramonte High School before the Lord called me to Berean Christian. I have been teaching here since 2012, and have loved every day of it. During my first year at Berean Christian, I completed my Master's degree in education.

Literature is my passion, and I love passing on the love of reading, analysis, and understanding the complexities of the English language to the students. My classes are very much organized in a manner that will best suit them for their time beyond High School, preparing them for their collegiate careers. Moreover, I strongly believe that learning does not end at the classroom door, and I work to ensure that the students are extending that learning experience beyond the school. For example, the Shakespearean literature course has a trip to Ashland, Oregon to attend the Shakespeare Festival, the AP courses have writing workshops off-campus, and I lead a trip abroad every other year, in order to bring to life the material covered in my classes.
