Berean's Drama department consists of 3 main classes taught by Travis Kerr: Beginning Drama (Intro class), Advanced Drama (by Auditon only), and Stagecraft (set building, props, production, and more!)
BEGINNING DRAMA
Beginning Drama is the introduction class to the Theatrical arts at Berean. This class studies the stage and teaches the different techniques involved in being an actor and stage crew. From studying theater to performing in class monologues, this class molds actors to continue into classes such as Advanced Drama and Stagecraft.
"I learned so much during my time in Beginning Drama. The technical terms I learned here, I used throughout the rest of my time in Drama."
ADVANCED DRAMA
Advanced Drama is a group of Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors who have auditioned for this group. These actors put on the One Acts, Improv Nights, and the Spring Play. From Comedic to Dramatic, these students work hard to bring these scripts to life.
"Advanced Drama was family. This group of students became my closest friends, and through long rehearsal hours spent together, they made Drama my favorite part of my Berean Christian Education. I am forever grateful for the opportunity to join this family."
STAGECRAFT
Stagecraft is the part of Drama that does everything but acting. From stage design and props to lights and sound, Stagecraft builds each show from the ground up and problem-solves the technicals of the show to make memorable productions.
"Stagecraft is more than just a class, it is an amazing experience where you get to bond with not only your classmates but also with the students in advanced drama. You get the chance to use your imagination to come up with ideas on how the plays should look and get hands on by building all of the sets that you design. "
