In addition to a record-setting volleyball season, the football team had their first winning season in six years, and the tennis and cross country teams each had standout athletes who competed in the NCS post-season.
For a second year in a row, Vivian Gallaway (Sophomore) performed at the top of the league in Girls Tennis. She won the league singles championship tournament and went on to win the North Coast Section Singles Championship. Chloe Larner (Senior) and Samantha Padilla (Freshman) teamed up to dominate the league tournament in girls tennis. At opposite ends of the age bracket, Chloe and Samantha were an unlikely pair, but both of them train with the same personal coach which gave them an advantage together. Chloe served as the team’s captain this year leading them to a 10-3 overall record.
Annabel Trebitich (Sophomore) ran away with an outstanding cross country season. Annabel ran a 21.22 three mile (7.07 min/mile). With two more seasons of running left at the school Athletic Director, La Shawn Wells says that she will likely break a number Berean records before she graduates. Annabel qualified to run in the North Coast Section meet with her outstanding season performance.
The BCHS Football Team entered the season with a new coaching staff this fall that required the players to work harder and transform the way they see the game. The hard work paid off with several upset wins over higher-ranked schools. In October the team won their home conference game against Alhambra. They dominated Hercules High School with a 47-7 win in September. They ended the season with a 6-4 winning record reversing the 4-6 record of the previous season. Nassir Pitters (Senior) had an incredible season on the field and was first-team all league. “Nassir had a great season from several positions on the field,” says Coach Wells.
