Dear Friends of Berean Christian High School,
As we approach the holiday season, I am reminded of the apostle Paul’s words to the Corinthian church: “Thanks be to God for his inexpressible gift!” (2 Cor 9:15). In this concise statement, the apostle reminded the young church where their motivation for Christian generosity and gratitude came from, i.e., God’s gift to them, His Son, Jesus Christ!
And like the Corinthians of long ago, we too get our motivation to live thankful and generous lives when we consider that everything we do proceeds from God’s inexpressible gift to us. Our work here at Berean is an expression of our thankfulness to God, and like you, we are driven by the divine grace extended to us through Jesus. And it is through the generosity and support of many charitable people that we have been able to offer an unparalleled Christian education experience for families looking to help us develop the next generation of Christian leaders who live in light of this gift!
In last month’s issue of the Berean Bulletin, we announced the formation of the Berean Christian High School Foundation, an entity dedicated to providing major fundraising assistance to our school and furthering our mission of “developing lifelong followers of Jesus Christ.” Since the announcement, a generous donor has committed to match up to $100,000 to launch the Foundation’s work. I’m filled with excitement at the possibility of realizing the match by year’s end, and I trust that the Lord will help us achieve that goal. Please be on the lookout for a correspondence regarding ways you can partner with us!
This month's issue includes stories of how we continue to work our way back to a semblance of normal during the pandemic. You’ll read about our homecoming court and how students elected their peers based on their leadership skills and “Christ-like” qualities. In normal years, the court is presented at halftime of the homecoming football game, but with the postponement of fall sports, the typical experience was impossible. Nevertheless, we found a way! The homecoming court got dressed up on a Friday afternoon and filmed their presentation for the school to view on YouTube. They spoke of their ambitions and hopes for the future. If you have the chance to watch it, you will be blessed.
This issue also includes stories about our “Drama Chapel” and the return of one of our school clubs, Model United Nations. Drama Chapel is a series of short Christian themed plays that are usually presented to the entire school on a Wednesday during the time customarily slotted for chapel. This year, because of limits on gatherings, students built an outdoor stage, filmed their production, made edits, and posted their work on Berean’s YouTube channel. I trust you’ll enjoy watching it.
As the fall semester is coming to a close, we continue to work out what the Lord has worked in to our lives and school - the gift of a savior who did what we couldn’t do.
God bless you all!
Nicholas Harris
