Darryll Whaley
Head Coach Wrestling
Darryll Whaley joined the Berean Coaching Staff in 2011 as a football coach (7 yrs.) and
Lacrosse coach (2 yrs.) Shortly after his first year, Darryll approached the Athletic Director about
starting a wrestling program. Darryll wrestled in High School from 1981-84, as well as
participating in the All-Army Wrestling Team between 1986-1989.
The first Berean wrestling team was formed in 2012 and has had tremendous successful in each
of the 12 years in its existence. The team has accounted for several individual league champions, several
tournament champions, as well as several NCS appearances and winners as well. The team competes in a super
league which consists of 13 teams, all of which are DI and DII teams, giving Berean the
opportunity to compete at a higher level throughout the year.
Darryll’s vision as head coach has always been to come alongside his athletes and help mold
them into the young adults they are meant to be in life, using wrestling as a vehicle to help
them through difficult times and build character through adversity.
Darryll prides himself on keeping in touch with his graduating alumni wrestlers and often enjoys
having them back to the mat to work with up-and-coming athletes.
